Konseling Keluarga Berencana Pada Penderita Preeklamsia di Kabupaten Timor Tengah Selatan

Background: Preeclampsia is one of the direct causes of maternal death. The proportion of preeclampsia in Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT) Province is still high at 4.7% compared to the national proportion of 2.7%. One of the risk factors for preeclampsia is chronic hypertension. Blood pressure regulation can be influenced by hormonal contraceptive drugs such as pills, injections or implant birth control. The trend of using birth control injections in South Central Timor Regency has decreased from 2017 (62.93%) to 2018 (58.14%) (NTT Provincial Health Statistics, 2018). Even though it has decreased, the percentage of use of birth control injections is still high. Hormonal contraceptives are basically drugs that consist not only of estrogen. This combination inside contraceptive drugs can affect metabolism. Purpose :The purpose of the study is to get an overview of the experience of preeclampsia sufferers in obtaining family planning counseling services in South Central Timor Regency. Method: A type of qualitative research using a phenomenological approach. Data collection used in-depth interview methods, semi-structured interviews and participant observations. Participants were 7 acceptors of birth control with a history of preeclampsia who were declared medically cured. Determination of participants by purposive sampling. Results: health workers show a good attitude, the steps in birth control counseling have not been perfectly implemented, the family supports birth control counseling. Expectations for family planning counseling services include the confidentiality maintained by health workers. Conclusion: family planning counseling has not been implemented optimally in South Central Timor Regency.
