Abstract

Room sterilization training is an important part of efforts to prevent and control nosocomial infections in healthcare facilities. Room sterilization training activities are aimed at cleaning staff (housekeeping) and Environmental Health Workers. Infection prevention and control efforts are one of the main pillars in improving the quality and safety of healthcare services in hospitals. Room sterilization is a crucial part in breaking the chain of transmission of pathogenic microorganisms, especially in high-risk areas such as inpatient rooms, procedure rooms, operating rooms, and emergency units. Recognizing this importance, Dr. Hendrikus Fernandez Larantuka Hospital held Room Sterilization Training in 2025 as a form of commitment to maintaining service quality and patient safety. The high mobility of patients, healthcare workers, and visitors has the potential to increase the risk of healthcare-associated infections (HAIs). Room sterilization and disinfection carried out properly, standardized, and continuously is a strategic step to reduce this risk. Therefore, it is necessary to increase the knowledge and skills of all related personnel, especially cleaning staff (housekeeping), nurses, and other support staff.
