Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) remains a public health challenge in Indonesia, including in the East Nusa Tenggara region. Pregnant women are a vulnerable group that requires special attention in preventing TB and implementing healthy living behaviors. Lack of understanding of the risks of TB during pregnancy and low health literacy are major obstacles in efforts to improve maternal and child health. This community service activity aims to increase the knowledge of pregnant women about healthy living behaviors and TB prevention strategies through a participatory community education approach in Tunfeu Village, Kupang Regency. The method used is socialization through lectures, group discussions, and question and answer sessions involving 30 pregnant women and families with close contact with TB sufferers. The material covers the importance of nutrition, personal hygiene, physical activity, and handling TB in the family environment. The evaluation was conducted using pre-test and post-test. The results showed a significant increase in participants' knowledge: understanding of TB transmission increased from 26.7% to 83.3%, and knowledge of nutrition during pregnancy increased from 40% to 90%. The activity also encouraged active participation of participants and the formation of local health cadres. In conclusion, the community education approach has proven effective in improving health literacy of pregnant women and supporting TB prevention efforts. This activity provides a real contribution to community-based health development and supports the national TB elimination program.
